"Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty ... I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life" Theodore Roosevelt
Biography
I developed my love of working with young adults first as a High School wrestling team captain. In this position, I taught young men the ins and outs of a complicated sport as well as intangibles like dedication, perseverance, and team work. This experience showed me how rewarding it is to work with this age group.
A few years later, I worked as a Youth Initiatives associate with the National Military Family Association. At this association I partnered with premier leadership camps. Together we develop teen leadership camps that were uniquely formatted to the challenges facing teens in the military community. This work encouraged me to return to school and become a teacher. As a teacher I incorporate the experiential learning model that makes learning at camp seem like so much fun. My students "learn by doing" and educational technology allows me to tailor their educational experience to best suit their needs. |
